Best Anxiety Medication Used for Treatment
In this blog post, we will once again, list some of the best anxiety medications used for anxiety attacks as well as associated problems.
This definitely one of my biggest topic when researching anxiety and panic disorder treatments. I am most intrigued on knowing everything about these medications.
For the most part, the best anxiety medications that are used are:
· Antidepressants
· Anti-anxiety drugs
· Beta-blockers
Using any of these medications may help you to live a normal life.
The medication selections must be determined by a professional doctor and the physician will need to know all the background that the person has had in terms of previous treatments. A physician must conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if they are indeed being affected by anyone of the mental health conditions.
Also the physician must establish as to what particular disorder they are working with. If you have a combination of mental disorders, they must also be identified so that the physician will learn how to treat it.
The doctor also needs to know whether you have received treatment from an existing or a past stress and anxiety disorder problem… again, the medical practitioner needs to know that. They also need to know what medication was given and the dosage.
At this time all treatments needs to be disclosed. Let your physician know about any negative effects. In addition to any therapy that was provided and if it was beneficial to you.
It is important to know that there are many folks that feels that the treatment they received did not benefited them. Sometimes, it may be that they may not have had time for the process to change or it was not done correctly. Other individuals may have to go through different supplements or treatments to find what will work for them.
Medication seriously isn’t the cure all for anxiety disorders and connected problems. However, medication can control these conditions while anyone is receiving therapy. Medicine can only be used in case your physician prescribes it.
Antidepressants
Originally, antidepressants were used for therapy of a depressive disorder. However, they work for those that are struggling with anxiety disorders. They work to change the chemistry within the brain. Once the initial dose is taken, it takes a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks before the symptoms will go away. The medication must be taken as directed in order for this to work.
· SSRIs – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors - these antidepressants work to change the level of the communication of the brain cells. The various more established ones are Prozac, Zoloft and Lexapro.
You can use them to manage any anxiety disorder that is certainly mixed with social phobia, depressive disorders or OCD. Since many are newer, they do not have as many unwanted side effects. However, those that use them may experience being jittery or nauseated in the initial stages of taking them. This is only temporary.
· Tricyclics - These antidepressants are older than SSRIs and are used for anxiety disorders aside from OCD. They are administered with a low dosage and increase gradually.
Negative effects include being dizzy, dry mouth, drowsy and weight gain. This can be eliminated by adjusting the medication dosage or using another remedy of the same form of antidepressant. Tofranil is needed for GAD and panic disorder; Anafranil is used for OCD.
· MAOIs – Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors - most are the oldest of the antidepressants available to use for these conditions. It is mostly used for anxiety disorders, attacks and related ailments.
Many of the more established ones are Nardil, Marplan and Parnate. When taking MAOIs, you will find certain snacks and drinks you have to avoid. That would include cheese and red wine.
In addition to that, you can not take Advil, Motrin, Tylenol or any other pain, cold or allergy relieve medication. Plus, women will not have the ability to use certain types of birth control tablets. Natural vitamin supplements are also off limits. Mixing MAOIs with any of these can cause a negative reaction.
· Anti-Anxiety Drugs – Drugs like benzodiazepines are highly potent. They work to fight off anxiety and also have almost no negative effects. Being drowsy may be the only one that’s noticeable. This medication is only prescribed for a brief time period. Doctors are weary about providing them to past drug abusers.
Because people will get easily hooked on them, they look for additional doses so they can keep going. Nevertheless, if the person has panic disorder, they are able to use these drugs approximately 12 months.
For social fear, Klonpin is used and Ativan can be used for panic disorder. The most common antidepressants available is Xanax, that is used for General Anxiety Disorder and panic disorder.
If a person stops taking benzodiazepines all of a sudden, they can go through withdrawals; the anxiety attacks can come back to haunt them. This really is one reason why some doctors are leery about using this meds or use them sporadically.

There is a great fallacy in regards to finding the best anxiety medication.
Can we find any good anxiety medication?
Although we will not get into which is the worst or the best anxiety medication, we do feel the need to give some explanation and to say that there is NO fail safe without side effect depression or anxiety drug that is available in the market.
Benzodiazepines used to be deemed the best anti-anxiety medication. The common names of benzodiazepines are Alprazolam, Diazepam, and Chlordiazepoxide.
While benzodiazepines, buspirone, antidepressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs are usually used as anti anxiety medication, sometimes antipsychotic, antihistamine, barbiturates and betablocker drugs can sometimes be prescribed depending on specific issues with each case or patient.
Should I continue to explain how difficult this is?
Here’s another drug you can read about… Celexa drug click the link to read more about the side effects of this anti anxiety medication.
There are numerous types of anti-anxiety drugs in the market today, similar to the
infinite number of agony relievers that adorn the shelves of many drug stores across the country.
This could be better explained by the indisputable fact that no single medication can
effectively work in every patient. We are all very unique and have unique conditions. We need to seek the drugs that best responds to our unique and respective conditions.
Try and imagine a scenario where the best medication for anxiety are required, you could frequently find this becoming a random attempt -trial and error- game
to most patients.
Doctors can’t ever be 100% confident the type of drug administered or the first dose given will result to the required effect. With this under consideration, it becomes quite difficult to say with certainty, what the best anxiety medications truly are.
It is common for doctors to prescribe the two major classes of medications for anxiety
treatment. The perfect type of anxiety medication will mostly be a combination concerning two or more anti-anxiety drugs and anti-depressants.
This combined effort of two drugs works wonders in alleviating both immediate and long-term symptoms.
It may be worth to notice that, while every effort is made by doctors in looking for
perfect remedies for anxiety, patients on their side can help a great amount if they stick to a few fundamental things.
Some of these measures will actively involve patients in their treatment, and need to follow them:
- Creating time to read and understand the medication. Not even the best
anxiety medication can work correctly if wrongly taken. It’s
therefore essential for patients to be acquainted with what they are
taking, the duration of the medication, how it works and the time it
takes to turn on, because, while some medications produce an immediate
impact, others take time to show visible indication of recovery in patients using them. Having this information previously can greatly help patients accurately gauge the effectiveness of the prescription.
- Dose understanding. For the case of anti-depressants, its crucial
to take the medication as prescribed. This may include
sticking to the dose amount as directed and also keeping the correct
times of day to use the drugs. - Reporting complications. Most good anxiety medications do come with a
large number of potential side effects and cares. - Drug contradictions. It’s worth pointing out that some best kinds
of anxiety medication may not mix well with other medications including
herbal preparations and even food. This information is
crucial to patients and will help them elude potential contradictions
in the course of their medication.
Anxiety medications are to enable patients of anxiety disorder to deal with the symptoms that prove to be troublesome to the patient. Setting about to find the best medication is basically a matter of private circumstance and specific symptoms.
Due to the side effects of most anxiety drugs, I prefer the natural herbs and natural
remedies. One such drug is Gabatrol.
Gabatrol’s ingredients include Sceletium Tortuosum, a powerful herb known to act fast in reducing stress and anxiety. Gabatrol’s proprietary extraction process allows the full potency of the herb to work effectively and fast.
Gabatrol has a balance of amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) that can subtly affect brain chemistry in a positive way! The all natural ingredients contained in Gabatrol’s proprietary formula is what separates this natural remedy from other stress and anxiety products.
Best anxiety medication is one that does not affect your body, does not give you
side effects, and it is not an addictive medicine. By this definition, you already know which is my answer for my vote on the best anxiety medication.
